LIVING ROOM AND DINING ROOM BELOW
COCONUT GROVE ADDITION TO THE REAR OF THE HOUSE
I first met these clients when they asked me to remodel the original house from 1947. There we had to re-structure the entire house so that we could remove the interior bearing partitions. You can read about that project here.

So now, they were ready to remodel the back of the house from the 1960s and add to it.
​
The original house had tiny rooms, but with this addition, they were able to add a very comfortable Master Bedroom and Bath, a sizable Walk-in Closet, a nice size Laundry Room, and some storage areas. In adddition, we were also going to remodel the existing room at the back of the house and convert it into a Den/Office.

Lastly, by extending the new room out, we created a covered Terrace Area.

THE ARCHITECTURAL PROCESS
The actual design and construction documents took almost no time, but among the things the city imposed on my clients, were the new driveway entrance and the new accessible sidewalks that did not exist before. The discussion on how much land they were going to take at the corner took a very long time to resolve.

Happily, this project is now in construction.
